PROJECT OVERVIEW
ARCHITECTURE
The uniqueness of this project as well as the main design driver was its location. Overlooking the Queensboro bridge, the unit offers unobstructed views of New York’s outer boroughs. With this as our background we set out to create an open plan for a passionate chef that takes full advantage of the views. Equipped with a built-in sound system and smart home features this unit is a tranquil oasis that caters to the owner’s needs.
INTERIOR DESIGN
The overall concept for this project was mixing a timeless design with modern amenities. All the finishes selected will forever be in style, from the European white oak wide plank floors to the natural marble tiles in the bathroom, to the Taj Mahal natural quartzite countertops in the kitchen. Add in all the high end kitchen appliances, luxury bathroom amenities and a state-of-the-art smart home system and you have a home that is nothing short of a magnificent work of art.
PROJECT COORDINATION
This was an interesting project to manage as it was one of our first jobs back up and running once the pandemic hit. Learning to navigate all the new rules and regulations along with figuring out how to best and safely work on job sites resulted in a huge learning curve. But our team was able to quickly adapt and kept things moving forward!
Once we demo’d and opened up this project, we undercover several ceiling beams and columns that were not aligning. Everything was off by a few inches here and there, which resulted in a need to reframe the space and add partial faux beams so all aspects lined up with clean edges. You would never know this was an issue now that the project is complete as everything looks thought out and intentional.
